COUNTRY EXPO ENTERTAINERS

Luella
· 2004 Best New Talent QLD Club Entertainment Awards
You know when Luella has hit the stage – a dynamic entertainer with powerful vocals and a raunchy audience participator style. Luella is the front person for one of Australia’s premier outfits the “Blue Heeler Band”, and has backed James Blundell on many occasions. Musically, Luella covers a broad spectrum including country, classic rock, blues and modern rock. Luella is writing some great original material, she is attractive, enthusiastic, and most definitely one of our favourites.

Kelly Black
Singer/Songwriter Kelly Black picked up a berth in the grand final of the 2004 Toyota Star Maker Quest and recently won Independent EP of the Year at the Tasmania/New Zealand Song writing Awards with her debut CD “Pilgrim”. Along with her band, “The Kelly Gang”, they took Tamworth by storm in the small hours of the morning at the Tamworth Country Music Festival.
The
Smokin’ Crawdads
Kick into party mode with the crazy capers of the Smokin’ Crawdads. Smokin’ by name and smokin’ by nature. Get your hands clappin’ and your feet tappin’ with the raw and
fresh sounds. The Smokin’ Crawdads are different! Highlighting a gamut of sounds from country, blues and rock through to teary ballads also featuring high octane guitar smarts.

Shelley Evans
It isn’t often that a girl singing to a single guitar can make an entire theatre stop in its tracks, but that’s the kind of power emerging singer songwriter Shelley Evans has. Her relaxed smile and often wild laughter gives the impression Shelley is more jokester than songbird. Shelley was a Graduate from Tamworth’s Country Music College and her debut single “Aces From The Man” illustrates her promising new and fresh talent, adding a unique voice to the ever changing canvas of Australian country music. Shelley hit #14 on the CMC Top 20 via her second video clip “Bones”. Her latest original release “Helltown” is sure to confirm her position as one the emerging singer/songwriters to watch out for!

Carla Herrod
· 2005 Golden Guitar nominee – Best New Talent
· 2004 Winner MusicOz Best Country Artist
· 2004 Independent Female Rising Star
Carla is an award winning songwriter whose songs are thoughtful and eloquent, providing a fresh combination of contemporary country, acoustic, folk and bluegrass.
Claye Middleton
· 2003 Best Male Vocal Kool Skools
·
2004 Arts & Education Winner
MacDonalds Young Star Award
· 2004 Winner Caboolture Urban Country Music Talent Search
· 2005 Finalist Telstra Road to Tamworth
Claye 18 years, has been winning awards since he was 7. Originally from New Zealand, he brings with him talent, he can sing and he can write a good song too. Clay does not overpower the melody and lyrics with unnecessary noise, but instead he has a rather mellow unique vocal approach. “Give A Little Back” is his first single, gently sung, thoughtfully produced, his music becomes quite addictive. Claye’s highlights so far are performing with Troy Cassar-Daley, Sara Storer and Bill Chambers, and doing support acts for Carter & Carter, Brendan Walmsley and Lee Kernighan.

OwenGray
Australian Singer/Songwriter Owen Gray brings a potent mix of Rhythm
& Blues, Funk, Soul and Country to the stage. Owen is proficient on bass
and guitar, as well as piano. A musician’s musician who has plied his trade within the confines of the Australian music industry for many years, recording many wonderful albums.
Subfreq
Hailing from the Sunshine Coast, Subfreq’s key is their interaction on stage, where they feel their way through the set as one. This is vital as the band makes all the music up on the spot and never stop playing until their set is finished.
Their music is best described as ‘Impromtu New World Funk’. Every show they do is a one off and will never be seen again.
Dave Reynolds
A professional renown entertainer who has performed internationally, and lucky us, he’s local, and has supported our Tavern since our opening in May last year. Dave’s easy listening, brilliant baritone vocals and excellent guitar skills have won him many awards and he has achieved fabulous air-play across Australia and other countries.
Dave has recorded many albums and CDs and several tracks are self-penned. He was very honoured to record the delightful track “Ridin’ With a Smile and a Song” with Australian legend, Smoky Dawson (Smoky’s own theme song). Dave also recorded another special track, “The Prince”, written by the late ‘Larrikin’, bush poet Bob Miller.
Dave’s affiliation and love of horses lead to an incredible involvement with the recently released brilliant DVD, “Remember the Horses”. This is a memorial to the Australian horses of war and the heroic lighthorsemen who rode them and Dave sings the featured song, “21 Guns”. The song “21 Guns” reached the top five nominations for a golden guitar in Tamworth. His “21 Guns” video is still being played as a Classic on Country Music Television, and for the tourist, a great souvenir of Australia.
Dave has won many accolades at the prestigious Queensland Music Awards. Each time he entered he won at least one and on one occasion achieved the ‘hat trick’ – Album of the Year, Single of the Year and Song of the Year.
